My daughter in her last five weeks of an otherwise uneventful university degree is now being made to watch videos, read papers and speak directly with members of the pro-Palestinian Resistance groups. There is much I can write about this, but will hold my peace for now. In today’s post will try to answer some of the misconceptions and misinformation that has been brought up.

1) Israel is a colonialist Apartheid State Israel unfairly subjugates various classes of persons that are not Jewish through the issuing of different identity cards, different colored license plates and ghettoization.

Regarding national identity and license plate cards: All Israeli citizens, whether Jew, Christian, Muslim, Druze, White, Black or any other group are issued blue ID cards. They include all pertinent info for identification as one would expect in any other country: photo, name, address, sex, age, date of birth, country of birth, parents name , status (citizen, work visa, student visa), and identity number. It is the same blue card for everyone including those who live in Area C of the West Bank, which is a tiny portion under complete Israeli authority. People in East Jerusalem and the West Bank hold green identity cards because they were issued by the Palestinian Authority. Areas B and A are under Palestinian Authority control and Jews enter there at their own risk. The Fatah is their government. Mahmoud Abbas is their elected President, currently serving his 19th year of a 4 year elected term. They have their own police force completely independent of the IDF.

Regarding licensing to keep the people subjugated: the Israeli Department of License and Motor issues a yellow and black license plate/tag to each car before purchase. It is an Israeli plate whether 1975 Dodge or 2023 Mercedes. If you live in Israel and have a car, this is your tag no matter your race, ethnicity or religion. If you live in the West Bank or Gaza, your tag is white and black because it is issued by the PA, it’s own government. There is no apartheid in this.

As for apartheid: all Israeli citizens regardless of religion or ethnicity are allowed certain freedoms- to worship or not as dictated by conscience ; to speak and write freely without fear of imprisonment; to vote; to learn in any school or university; to dress accordingly; to drive; to marry at least civilly; to travel; to health care and fair housing.

Israel is the only Middle Eastern country where Muslim women can dress in any fashion they want. Women work, drive, enjoy autonomy. In Israel, Arabs, both Muslim, Christian and Druze hold seats in the Knesset and on the Supreme Court. This is the opposite of Apartheid.

Once a critical mass is reached, the Israeli government is obligated to build church, synagogue or mosque and school for that particular community. Government funds are used to supplement building costs.

The West Bank can use all the international humanitarian funds it receives to build world class schools, hospitals. But they do not. The money in the West Bank has gone to build ghost cities and for mansions for the oligarchs as well as those families receiving funds monthly for its Pay to Slay program (reinstated under Biden 2021). I strongly recommend the videos (YouTube) by The Israel Guys for factual evidence no one else has brought forth.

Gaza is controlled by Hamas. It is it’s own territory and Israel has had absolutely no jurisdiction there. They could use their humanitarian aid and resources to build water and electricity plants, but rely on Israel to provide it to them. They do not pay their bills for these provided services. Instead of using US water pipes for infrastructure, they saw them to make missiles. Instead of using the concrete they are given for basic infrastructure, Hamas uses it to build underground bunkers.

2) The IDF is an inhumane army that subjugates lower class and Palestinian citizens This is a gross bit of Palestinian propaganda that has been spread throughout the Western world. The Israeli Defense Forces is one of the only militaries that has a written code of ethics. When a soldier enters the army, after receiving their uniform, they are given the manual of the code of ethics. Before they go any further in training, before they receive a gun, they must know the code by heart and are grilled on it by their sergeant.

They learn everything from basic respect for others… helping the elderly; giving up a seat on public transportation to pregnant mothers or mothers with children; respecting each and every human being as created in the Divine Image. The soldier is required to call home weekly to assure family. They are grilled on the value of human life and not to be influenced by race, religion or ethnicity. They learn basic first aid and triage so they can help anyone in need in any situation.

Before a soldier gets a gun, he is instructed on the purity of arms. Because life is sacred, the weapon can never be used indiscriminately or to threaten. If a soldier is known to be cruel or offensive in any way, he goes to military jail. Weapons are only to be used on combatants or in a defensive or threatening situation.

There are many videos of soldiers playing with Palestinian children, treating wounds of Palestinians or helping in one way or another. If a person is not actively threatening the life of another, there is no need to fear the IDF soldier.

3) The Zionists are (white) colonizers of Palestine and the indigenous Palestinian people

To define: Zionism is the idea that the Jewish people have a right as the indigenous people of Israel to return to their ancient and ancestral homeland and the resumption of sovereignty in the Land of Israel. The people are called Jews because they were from Judaea, the Biblical heartland.

Not only Biblical, but historical connections between the Jewish people and the Land are cemented by archaeological excavations tying the Jews, The Children of Israel, to that particular area. At the height of the Roman Empire, in 70AD, the Jews were expelled from Jerusalem and the entire country conquered in 135 AD (Bar Kochba Revolt). At that time, the Romans, to further humiliate the people they conquered, renamed the land Syria Palestina.

The name Palestina was taken from the word ‘Philistine,’ the number one enemy of the Jewish people in Biblical times. If you know any Biblical stories, Goliath the giant slain by David was a Philistine. Sampson fought the Philistines, and it continued through the centuries. So to name a country after one’s nemesis was further subjugation.

The name remained after the Roman Empire fell when Arabic armies swept through the Levant, keeping the name Falasteen. This was the name used by Crusaders, Mamaluks and Ottomans to refer to the inhabitants there whether Jew, Samaritan, Christian or Muslim. Although there was never a self-governing Arab body there, the region and all its inhabitants were known as Palestinians. The name was kept through the British Mandate period. The passports, coinage, stamps and official documents of the time said Palestine אי. Or Palestine Eretz Yisrael (Land of Israel). The citizens regardless of ethnicity were known as Palestinians until 1948, when the residents, both Jews and Arabs were called Israelis.

4) Israelis are ethnically cleansing the Palestinians in a mass genocide

To the contrary. A genocide is the controlled extermination of a people due to their race, religion, ethnicity or worldview.

Genocide: In 1939 there were 18 million Jews in the world. In 1945 there were 12 million Jews in the world.

Not genocide: In 2003 there were 1 million Palestinians in Gaza. In 2023 there are 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza.

The West Bank has had an annual population growth of 1.94% as of 2023 (year not over yet). The Gaza Strip has an annual growth in population of 2.09% as of 2023.

In order for there to be a genocide, the population, by definition, must have a sizable decline. Here we see the exact opposite. I believe the chart below, although it only shows up to 2014, gives a fairly accurate estimate.

Many of the Hamas terrorists from Gaza who perpetrated the heinous and barbaric attacks on 7 October have been caught and are systematically being interrogated. Most were “civilian” men in their teens and twenties.

They were given pills to take before the incursion began and to continue to ingest as needed. Pocketfuls were found on each prisoner. They turned out to be Captigon, a synthetic amphetamine type drug which suppresses appetite, improves focus and alertness, but also fills or clouds actions- thus enabling those under its effects to commit the most bloody acts of violence. It was used by ISIS during their 2015 campaign.

Also, each group or hit squad that entered Israel was given a GoPro body camera to film the atrocities and stream live to TikTok, then fed to AlJazeera and Memri. The attackers were instructed to kill showing no mercy. To kidnap the young and the elderly. If they brought people back to Gaza they were promised a new apartment and a $10,000 stipend.

That day 1400 Israelis and internationals were murdered. Over 233 we’re captured and carried away to Gaza. It has become an international event. 10 Thai workers were executed. The Israeli ambassadors to Thailand and Nepal have come to claim its country’s bodies in a moving memorial service at Ben Gurion Airport. There were Argentinians, Brazilians, Mexicans, Russians, French, Australians and South Africans. 23 nations other than Israel affected.

These are just a few faces of the kidnapped children now being held in conditions that only G-d knows. Posters have been put up in public squares throughout the world…. And have been ripped down numerous times by pro-Palestinian sympathizers. (We located our dear friend, a lovely American Israeli artist who had been a concert-goer. A friend found her post on Facebook for me. Instant sigh of relief!!!)

In the days immediately following the massacre, many many people, mostly American, refused to believe this had happened- that it was all fake news or greater conspiracy., A I generated photos. Despite news reports that were dismissed as “staged” the rumors of this being an intricately crafted hoax to distract people from what was really happening in the world.

As for Facebook, the Hamas terrorists were instructed to take their victims’ cell phones and laptops. To have them bring up their Facebook, Instagram and TikTok livestreams as well as their WhatsApp. They called the ones they loved most to plead for their lives. And the torture and killings were broadcast live to their families and to the world. This was also orchestrated by Hamas to put fear into the hearts of the world.

Yesterday journalists from around the world were shown a video made covering over an hour from the time the terrorists left Gaza. On paragliders, motorcycles, truck, van and foot. It was GoPro footage and filming from the dashcams taken from the victims’s cars and home security cameras. There could be no mistake. It was brutal. So brutal that several reporters held their heads in their hands. Some retched. There were reports from those that prepared bodies for burial. The world must know.
